Following the talk given by Carolyn Saunders Autumn 2022 it has been widely talked about as being one of the best talks we have hosted at St. Catherines.

By popular demand she has agreed to come back and give another talk on Odysseus and the Odyssey. 

  • Carolyn Saunders studied Classics at Kings College London and has taught the subject for forty years. Her current foci are Homer, Greek art and Greek Religion. She is a regular student of Plato and Ficino ( and has been a student of philosophy for over fifty years.)

She is passionate about her subject and believes there is a practical appreciation to be discovered in our daily life.

Tickets £5 on the door. Refreshments available in the interval

Our introductory courses

A tutor presents philosophical ideas, and leads a discussion based on what arises in the group. Being practical rather than academic, the emphasis is on personal knowledge and experience. Students are encouraged neither to accept nor reject the ideas put forward, but to test them in practice for themselves, in the light of their own experience.
